Dresses and Easter

I picked up a few ladies t-shirts from Wal-Mart for $3.00 a piece. I wasn't really feeling them, but they screamed Audrey's name. Instead of working on cleaning the house or cooking Easter dinner I spent Saturday making dresses for Audrey.

The pink shirt I didn't really change the shape of it, just took it in to fit Audrey.  I wanted to add some gathers on the side, but Audrey just wanted to wear it.  I did put elastic in the back so it looked more like a dress and less like a nightgown.  The first pic is the before and the last two are afters.

The blue shirt I hacked off and used my serger to create the skirt part.  I had left over pink t-shirt fabric from another project for the skirt.  Audrey loves this one and wanted to wear it on Easter.

We dressed up in our Easter outfits for church Saturday night.  We like that service because it is ultra casual.  The boys wore their "dress jeans".

We hosted Easter dinner at our house for the only family here in the city. My Aunt and Uncle live a few streets over. My cousins live further north, but we were all able to get together to have some Costco ham. After dinner we went to my Aunt's house to hunt for Easter eggs in their backyard.

Hair cut and Park Fun

Thank you to all that donated to St. Jude Children's Hospital.  Audrey and Hudson raised $270 together for this wonderful institution!

My cousin Bette cut the boys hair a few weeks ago.  They both look so much better.  Here is Hudson's before and after.

It was sad to see Marshall's curls go, but he looks like such a little man now.

We ended up at the local park later that evening. I took this picture of Hudson and Audrey and it reminded me of when they were little. Same park many years later.

What is it with boys and finding big sticks?

Audrey was not in the mood for pictures.

Look at this big guy. He is growing up so fast!

Easter pics will be coming later this week.

Have a great one!!

St. Jude Children's Hospital

It is that time of the year again!  The kids are raising money for the St. Jude Children's Hospital.  Josh and I are going to match all donations that are made on Audrey's fundraising site.  We will put those matched funds on Hudson's site under your name!

We don't show up at your door with pizza kits or cookie dough, we just solicit money from friends and family for St. Jude.  It isn't all that bad, is it??

You can donate as little or as much as you want.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post!  We will be back to our regularly scheduled boring posts next week (after the fundraiser is over)!

Audrey is super excited to be a part of this fundraiser this year!

Have a great Easter weekend!

Spring Break

The kids were on Spring Break a week back.  We went to the zoo, went to an open gymnastics place, and Marshall had a raging double ear infection that I didn't know about.

The first picture should have been an indication on how sick he felt.  He rarely cuddles up to anyone anymore, let alone Hudson...even to watch him play his DS.  I win the "Mom of the Year Award"...you can mail it to me.....

The day we went to the zoo was the only day of the week that it didn't rain. It was still chilly, but the sun did shine after lunch time.

I wish this kid could say, "For the love of God, Mom...my ears are ready to burst out of my skull. Can you help me out?" Instead he just looks at me like this and I think he is just being a normal two year old.

My mailing address is listed for the "Mom of the Year Award"....

A few days later the weather warmed up and Josh started cleaning out the shed. Look what he and Hudson found (up high so little kids couldn't have found it). We only keep the dangerous chemicals down low within the small children's reach. (kidding)

I do want to note that I do not stage these photographs. Hudson hollered for me when he found the sword. He wanted his picture taken. I, of course, oblige all picture requests. Even when the props are rusty swords that will hack a limb off or at least give you lock jaw.

I took Marshall to the doctor earlier this week following a painful night of sleeplessness. She took one look in his ears and said..."Oh my. This is a really really bad ear infection. In both ears!"  I let her know that I had failed knowing he was sick.  He had no fever, no tugging at the ears, no indication that he was sick except for the crankiness, sleeplessness, and general two year old behavior.

He's been on antibiotics for five days and is back to "normal".  Two year olds are rarely "normal", but he is no longer cuddling and has resumed running every where he goes.

I hope you are having a illness free spring!

Memo

Did you get the memo that today was crazy hair day?

No?

It must have only been delivered to my house.

Do you think the little guy gets enough hugs around this house?

Hair cuts are in the boys immediate future even though the older one will resist.

Have a great rest of the week!

Flash Back

Once I left High School I didn't really keep track of my friends from Coldwater.  In the last few years I've started to reconnect to some girls on Facebook.  That is the one nice thing about that time sucking application...I have been able to see what my classmates lives are like now.

One of my friends from school is Alicia.  Here are some pictures of us. Can you tell which decade these are from?  One time we went to Chicago and could take a friend.  I took Alicia.

My Mom let me have friends over before dances to get ready together.  Please note the awesome hats, bangs, and our Halloween costumes we rented from Tibbits Opera House.  My hair is not permed.  I used to enhance the curls with a tiny curling iron and a can of RAVE!

Anyway, Alicia and I found each other on Facebook.   She lives out west now, is married, and expecting her first baby in June.  She and her hubby are not finding out what they are having so I was challenged in finding some gender neutral cute fabric. Audrey and I headed out and we found the owl fabric.   How cute is this little set?  The little booties would look cute with blue jeans or frilly socks.  She just received this present last week so I had to share.

Here are my new tennis shoes...you like?  I wanted to flash back to college so I bought myself a pair of Chuck Taylors.  I wanted blue, but only found black at the store.  I think they are pretty awesome, but I also thought my hair was sweet in High School.

Thanks for indulging me in my Flash Back moment.  It was fun going through my old photo albums.  The kids had a kick looking at all of the pictures from my High School days.

Have a great week and congratulations Alicia!!!
