Soccer and Coldwater

Hudson and Audrey had a soccer camp a few weeks ago.  Here are some pics of them.  It was so hot and no one pushed the kids to run too hard.




We also spent my Mom's birthday with her in Coldwater.  We let Josh off the hook so he could motorcycle with his Dad & Cousin Mike.  We took the kids down to the Court House where they had an outdoor water fountains that the kids can play in.





We had a great visit with the friends from California & here (the Law School Gang), but I was too busy flapping my gums that when I pulled out my camera all of my pics were WAY too dark.  Here are the ones that I had to digitally fix the exposure, but it captures the good times we all had.



I have baseball pictures and motorcycle/pond pics from Coleman in the hopper.  Those will probably be up later this week or early next.  We are busy having summer fun over here in the Haller household.  I hope you are having a good summer too!!

Final installment of Vacation 2010

This is going to be a hodge podge of our vacation photos.  I've got soccer & baseball pics in the hopper so I have to get off of the vacation subject!  We are also having a dinner party tomorrow night for the California  & Law School friends.  I'll have pictures of that night too.

Time to wrap this vacation recap up!!!

We played in the sand, canoed, and kayaked in front of our cabin.



Hudson was buried for the first time. He liked it.


This is our cabin and the van after we went off roading with it.  Marshall is supposed to be eating his breakfast.  Instead he is trying to see the Disney Channel from the Satellite TV, which since we don't have cable or satellite this was a big bonus for Hudson & Audrey.

We went to White Fish Point and visited the Light House there.  They also had a shipwreck museum that features a model that one of Josh's former bosses made especially for that museum.  It was pretty cool.


We went to Tahquamenon Falls which the kids really didn't care for too much.  It sprayed some mist out and you couldn't swim in it.  A lose lose for them.

We went to the Crisp Point Light House.  It was far off any beaten path, but well worth it.  We spent about three hours there playing in Lake Superior.  The kids and Josh went up to the top of the Light House.  They could actually go out onto the balcony.  It scared me just looking up at it so I stayed safely on the ground with Marshall.




We had such a great time in the U.P!  In two years we will probably go back.

Good times in the UP!

Vacation: Part 3

This will be the last vacation post I will write this week.  I'll post more next week along with pictures of the kids playing soccer and baseball that have been filling our mornings and nights.

During the vacation we headed over to Sault Saint Marie on a day that it was threatening to rain.  On our way we made a couple unscheduled stops.  The first stop being Naomikong Bridge.  It was worth the hike and the drizzle.  The bridge was cool, but also there were TONS of wild blueberries.  The kids ate their way to the bridge!


We called this tree the "butt" tree.




Our second stop was the Point Iroquois Lighthouse.  Josh took Audrey and Hudson to the top of the Lighthouse.  They loved it!  We ended up on Lake Superior skipping rocks for about an hour.

We made it to Sault Saint Marie and we were just in time to see a huge freighter go through the locks.  It was impressive.


Hudson and Audrey went up onto a viewing platform with Josh. Marshall and I hung out right by the ship. These pictures were taken about 20 minutes apart.  The ship sunk below the dock and was no longer visible, at least to Marshall in his stroller.  


There are more pictures coming next week of beach activities, more lighthouses, waterfalls, and our cabin.  I hope these posts are boring you all to tears.  My goal is to get this blog printed out at the end of the year.  It will be a great reminder to our family of the wonderful times we've had in 2010.

Vacation: Part 2

Here are some more pictures from our wonderful vacation.

Our hotel was a lot of fun.  It was positioned so we could swim right outside our door and watch the fireworks either on the beach or on our balcony. We also walked down the street to listen to some bands.





Audrey, Marshall, and I walked down the street to hear another band right before the fireworks. Can you tell who was really tired, but didn't want to miss the excitement?



We started out watching the fireworks on the beach then it started to pour. We headed up to our balcony and the rain cleared so the show could go on.


On Monday we went to the Coast Guard Cutter. It was a really neat boat to tour through. I had Marshall in a sling which was a good thing. We had to climb a lot of very steep stairs. It was worth it, the boat was very interesting.


Josh was quite impressed with the size of this engine piston.  Hudson was done having his picture taken. Can you tell?

Vacation: Part I

Yes, my friends you read the title correctly...this is part one.  I'm not sure how many parts there will be, but I have to start at the beginning.

So, we went to Mackinaw City for three nights.  During that trip we visited Mackinaw Island, saw the fireworks from our hotel balcony, walked around Mackinaw to see what it had to offer, and visited the big Coast Guard ice breaker boat.

We had a great time on the ship to the island.  When they tell you that you'll get wet on top of the boat they really mean it.  Audrey, Josh, and Hudson looked like they had gone through the car wash without the protection of a car.


We loved walking around the island and seeing all of the sights.




At the fort there was a super cool display that allowed the kids to pick up fake guns, in front of a blue screen, and followed along a televised Drill Sergeant's directions.


We had a great time at the fort, then had ice cream, and rode a horse and buggy to the Grand Hotel.  That was Audrey's favorite part.
